Analytics

Simple, private website analytics: live visitors, merged pages, sources, locations, devices, campaigns and custom events, with no cookies.

Analytics is a simple, private website analytics product. Add your site, paste one line into your page, and your stats appear the moment the first visitor arrives: who is on your site right now, which pages they read, where they came from, where in the world they are, and what they use to browse. There are no cookies and no consent banner to add, and your visitors are never followed across websites or across days.

Getting started in a minute

  1. Open dash.hep.gg/analytics and press Add site. Type your domain, for example example.com.
  2. Copy the tag you are given into the <head> of every page (there are ready-made versions for plain HTML, Next.js, React, WordPress and Google Tag Manager). See Installing the tag.
  3. Open your site in another tab. The dashboard shows Waiting for your stats until the first visit lands, then switches to your live stats on its own. If nothing shows up, Check my install looks at your page and tells you what is missing.

What you see

  • Right now: visitors on your site in the last five minutes, and pageviews minute by minute for the last half hour. It updates every few seconds while you watch.
  • Over time: visitors, pageviews, views per visit, bounce rate and visit duration for any period, each compared with the period before, plus a traffic chart.
  • Pages: your top pages, with similar addresses counted together. /order/123 and /order/456 show as one page, /order/:id, and you can see the addresses behind it. On Prime, entry and exit pages too.
  • Sources: direct visits, search, social, email and referring sites, and on Prime the exact links people clicked.
  • Locations: a world map and your top countries, and on Prime regions and cities.
  • Devices: desktop, mobile and tablet, and on Prime browsers, operating systems and screen sizes.
  • Campaigns (Prime): utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign from the links you share.
  • Events (Prime): custom events you send from your own code, like a signup or a purchase.

Click any row to filter the whole dashboard by it, for example to see only visitors from one country or only people who arrived from one site.

Pages that belong together

Addresses that only differ by an id, a date or a long code are grouped automatically. For everything else you decide: in Settings, Page grouping you can group pages by a pattern (/blog/*), keep one page separate, or give a page a friendly name. When we notice many pages that look alike, for example a blog, we suggest a group and you accept it with one click. Rules also apply to your past stats.

Free sites never collect the Prime-only details, so they are not stored at all. If Prime ends, the all-time view locks straight away, and history older than a year is kept for 30 days in case you renew before it is trimmed. Sites beyond the free limit pause (their stats stay) until you remove some or renew.

Alerts

Turn on alerts per site in Settings, Privacy and alerts: a traffic spike alert when the last hour is well above a usual hour, and a gone quiet alert when a site that normally gets visits has had none for a day, which usually means the tag came off or the site is down. Alerts arrive through your notification channels.

How visitors are counted

A visitor is counted once per day per site, without cookies. Someone who comes back tomorrow counts again, so a weekly number is the sum of each day's visitors. Visits from bots and crawlers are left out. Read more in Privacy.
